About Rumi Community Center
Who we are and what we do?
Rooted in the rich legacy of Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi (Rumi), the Rumi Community Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building an inclusive space for cultural connection, education, and community empowerment. Based in Illinois, we serve people of all backgrounds with a shared commitment to mutual respect and understanding.
Our mission is to promote the cultural heritage of Afghanistan and the broader Persianate world through vibrant community programs, educational initiatives, and charitable outreach. Whether you join us for a cultural event, enroll in one of our workshops, or volunteer to support humanitarian efforts, you’ll find a welcoming space to learn, grow, and connect.

Rumi Community Center operates exclusively for charitable, cultural, and educational purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are governed by a dedicated Board of Directors and supported by a diverse and engaged membership.
